The Oakland Athletics positioned right-hander Paul Blackburn on the 15-day injured checklist Monday with a proper foot damage and recalled left-hander Easton Lucas from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Blackburn, 30, was identified with a stress response in his fifth metatarsal. His IL transfer is retroactive to Saturday.
The 2022 All-Star was 3-2 with a 4.11 ERA in eight begins this season. In eight seasons for the A’s, he’s 20-26 with a 4.80 ERA in 80 appearances (76 begins).
Lucas gave up three runs over 2 1/3 innings throughout two earlier outings with the A’s this season. In eight reduction appearances with Oakland over the previous two seasons, the 27-year-old has a 9.00 ERA in 9 innings.
