Members of the Brookfield Central boys tennis team pose with the championship trophy after defeating Marquette, 4-3, in the WIAA Division 1 final at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison on Saturday.

MADISON – For the second time in three seasons, Brookfield is the tennis capital of the state.

Brookfield Central and Brookfield Academy won WIAA team championships Saturday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Both won the title by a 4-3 margin and both matches weren’t sealed until the final match.

Central defeated defending champion Marquette in the Division 1 final to win its first title since 2001.

Brookfield Academy edged Green Bay Notre Dame in Division 2. It was the Knights’ third straight title, something that hadn’t been accomplished since University School completed a three-year run in 2015.
