Two matches on the Italian Open in Rome have been suspended following a protest by local weather activists.

The last-16 tie between Madison Keys and Sorana Cirstea was interrupted, together with a doubles match during which Santiago Gonzalez and Edouard Roger-Vasselin have been dealing with Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic.

American Keys was main 6-2 3-1 when, in accordance with an announcement on the Italian Open web site, two activists sporting orange vests ran on to the court docket and threw confetti.
