Pelicans’ Dyson Daniels has torn meniscus; no timeline for return

NEW ORLEANS — Pelicans guard Dyson Daniels has been identified with a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee, the staff introduced Monday.

The Pelicans mentioned they’re evaluating remedy choices and didn’t instantly present a timeline for Daniels’ return to basketball.

The 6-foot-8 Dyson Daniels, a local of Australia, was New Orleans’ first-round alternative within the 2022 NBA draft, chosen eighth general.

This season, Daniels has appeared in 52 video games with 15 begins and has performed almost 22 minutes per sport, averaging 5.5 factors, 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals.

In early September, a few weeks earlier than NBA coaching camps opened, Pelicans wing participant Trey Murphy III was identified with the same meniscus damage. He had it repaired with arthroscopic surgical procedure and his restoration took almost three months earlier than he returned to the Pelicans’ lineup Nov. 29.

The Pelicans have 29 video games left within the common season.
