Sturgis tennis opens season with victory


PAW PAW — The Sturgis tennis workforce began its season with a victory on Wednesday.

The Girl Trojans went on the street and beat Paw Paw by a 7-1 rating.

On the day, the singles gamers swept the matches for Sturgis.

Ryle Carver won her first match at No. 1 singles this year over Paw Paw on Wednesday.

Rylee Carver received over Alyssa Crain at first singles 6-1, 6-0 and Gracie Perry picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at second singles over Aili Shaughnessy. Katherine Steele at third singles and Ava Stewart at fourth singles each cruised to 6-0, 6-0 victories for the Trojans.

In doubles motion, Sturgis’ high workforce of Chloe Clark and Arianha Terwedo had been defeated. They misplaced to Paw Paw’s Chloe Kooi and Kate Rentschler by scores of 6-3 and 6-3.

Sturgis received at second by means of fourth doubles by straight units.

Johanna Rooyakkers and Bella Currier received at second doubles 6-1, 6-1 and Nghi Njo teammed up with Katelyn Halling to win 6-2, 6-0 at third doubles. Fourth doubles noticed Mya Eicher and Hannah Richie win comfortably at 6-1, 6-4.
